Mauricio Salas
Partner with more than 25 years of experience advising on environmental law and conflict resolution. He has a background in natural sciences and has supported major NGOs and companies on issues of regulatory compliance, permits, sanctions and remedial plans. He is an active litigant in cases involving natural resources and represents clients before regulatory authorities. In the field of conflict resolution, he is on the list of designated arbitrators under international treaties such as CAFTA, Mexico and Central America–Dominican Republic. He has actively participated in arbitrations and complex litigation in Costa Rica.
Mauricio is currently President of the Administrative Board of the Centro Internacional de Conciliación y Arbitraje (CICA-AMCHAM) and a member of the arbitration commission of the national chapter of the ICC. He completed an internship at the Appellate Body of the World Trade Organization and is an arbitrator of the Centro Iberoamericano de Arbitraje (CIAR).
